Joseph McDowell (25 February 1758 – 7 March 1799) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-NC 1) from 1793 to 1795, succeeding John Steele and preceding James Holland.

Biography[]

Joseph McDowell was born in Morganton, Rowan County, North Carolina in 1758, and he served as a militia general before serving in the US House of Representatives from 1793 to 1795. He died at his Pleasant Gardens estate in 1799.
