Joseph Hopkinson (12 November 1770-15 January 1842) was a member of the US House of Representatives (F-PA 1) from 4 March 1815 to 3 March 1819, succeeding Charles Jared Ingersoll and preceding Samuel Edwards.
Biography[]
Joseph Hopkinson was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1770, and he practiced law in Philadelphia and Easton from 1791 to 1814. He went on to serve in the US House of Representatives from 1815 to 1819, and he went on to practice law in Bordentown from 1820 to 1823 and in Philadelphia from 1823 to 1828 and serve as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly from 1821 to 1822 and as Judge of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania from 1828 until his death in 1842.
