
Joseph Benton Donley (10 October 1838-23 January 1917) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-PA 24) from 4 March 1869 to 3 March 1871, succeeding George Van Eman Lawrence and preceding William McClelland.
Biography[]
Joseph Benton Donley was born in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania in 1838, and he co-founded Abingdon College in Illinois before serving in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He became a lawyer in Waynesburg in 1867 and served as a bankruptcy referee from 1867 to 1868 and in the US House of Representatives from 1869 to 1871. He died in 1917.
