
Jose Maria Pla Machado (15 October 1794-23 April 1869) was President of Uruguay from 15 February to 1 March 1856, succeeding Manuel Basilio Bustamante and preceding Gabriel Antonio Pereira. He was a member of the Colorado Party of Uruguay.
Biography[]
Jose Maria Pla Machado was born in Maldonado, Uruguay on 15 October 1794, and he served in the House of Representatives from 1841 to 1846 and in the Senate from 1854 to 1857. In 1856, he served as interim President after Manuel Basilio Bustamante's resignation, and he left office when Gabriel Antonio Pereira returned to the presidency. He died in 1869.
