Jose Manuel Borgono

Jose Manuel Borgono (1792-29 March 1848) was a Chilean general during the Chilean War of Independence.

Biography[]

Jose Manuel Borgono was born in Petorca, Chile in 1792, and he served as a military engineer during the Chilean War of Independence. He took command of the artillery of Santiago following the 1817 Battle of Chacabuco, and he later fought at the Battle of Maipu and in the Peruvian War of Independence. Borgono became a member of the liberal Pipiolos after Chilean independence, and he served as Minister of War under Francisco Antonio Pinto and again from 1846 until his death in 1848.
