Jorge Marcelo Holguin Mallarino (30 October 1848-2 March 1928) was President of Colombia from 11 November 1921 to 7 August 1922, succeeding Marco Fidel Suarez and preceding Pedro Nel Ospina.
Biography[]
Jorge Holguin was born in Cali, Valle del Cauca, New Granada in 1848, the brother of Carlos Holguin Mallarino. He became a businessman, journalist, writer, soldier, and politician, and he fought in the civil wars of 1876 and 1895. Holguin served as Foreign Minister from 1897 to 1898 and in 1918, as Finance Minister in 1904 and 1909, as War Minister in 1909, and as President from 1921 to 1922. He died in 1928.
