Jorg Walther (born 17 May 1974) was a German operative that was part of Rainbow from 1999 to 2005. He transferred from the GSG-9 in an assault position, participating in several operations involving Rainbow.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Jorg Walther was born on May 17, 1974, in Saarbrücken, Saarland, Germany to a Lufthansa safety engineer father and a housewife mother. He had three younger siblings: two sisters, one brother. Walther became an amateur archer, competing in junior national championships across Germany in 1990.

Police career[]

Walther entered the Bundesgrenzschutz at the top of his cadet class in 1994, being stationed in his hometown from 1994 to 1998. Walther married a woman in 1996. He completed GSG-9 training at the top of his class in 1998, being assigned to GSG-9/1 briefly before being reassigned to Rainbow, a newly founded multinational counterterrorist unit.

Rainbow career[]

Walther was an assault operative during the 2000 Phoenix Group attacks, the Oil Mafia crackdown in 2002, and the 2005 Ustase plot. He then transferred back to the GSG-9, retiring in 2017.
