Jonathan Thomas (1836-) was a British sergeant under the command of Major Ashley Pitt in Western Australia in the late 19th Century. In 1880, he and his cavalry patrol tried to help Australian landowner and rancher Elliott Marston to track down, capture and kill American sharpshooter Matthew Quigley. At the end, him and his company were surrounded by Aborigines. Ashley Pitt, knowing that fighting them would mean their death, ordered the patrol to retreat.
