Jonathan Roberts (16 August 1771 – 24 July 1854) was a member of the US House of Representatives from Pennsylvania's 2nd district from 4 March 1811 to 24 February 1814 and a US Senator from 24 February 1814 to 4 March 1821 (succeeding Michael Leib and preceding William Findlay). He was a Democratic-Republican.
Biography[]
Jonathan Roberts was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania in 1771, and he worked as a wheelwright apprentice before serving in the State House of Representatives from 1799 to 1800 and in the State Senate from 1807 to 1811. From 1811 to 1814, he served in the US House of Representatives, and then in the US Senate from 1814 to 1821, and he served as a Democratic-Republican. From 1823 to 1826, he returned to the State House, and, from 1841 to 1842, he worked as a customs collector in Philadelphia. He died in King of Prussia in 1854.
