Johnny Trapani (1896-1936) was a Corleone crime family soldier. Trapani was the owner of Trapani's Bakery in Little Italy and a distant relative of Don Vito Corleone, and he was killed by the Barzini crime family in 1936.
Biography[]
Johnny Trapani was born in Little Italy, Manhattan, New York City in 1896 to a family of Sicilian descent. His father was a maternal uncle of Corleone crime family boss Vito Corleone, and Johnny's brother Antonio Trapani would follow Johnny into a life of organized crime. Johnny Trapani married Serafina Trapani in 1918, became a made man in the Corleone family two years later, and had a son, Aldo, in 1924. Trapani was incredibly loyal to Don Corleone, and he was highly favored by him. This friendship led to his family business, Trapani's Bakery, becoming very successful.
Death[]
Trapani played a part in sabotaging a number of businesses owned by the rival Barzini crime family, leading to his demise. In 1936, his bakery was bombed by the Barzinis shortly after Don Corleone and Peter Clemenza left from making a collection from Trapani, and Serafina expressed worry that their young son, Aldo, was inside of the building. Trapani rushed into the building and fought off several Barzini thugs, making his way into the alleyway. There, he was cornered by Don Emilio Barzini, Pietro Testa, and another Barzini soldier, and Barzini apologized to Trapani, saying that it was only business. He then had his two gunmen brutally murder Trapani, who was shot full of bullets and killed instantly.
