Johnny Ola (1915-31 December 1958) was a Sicilian mobster and the right-hand man of Hyman Roth.
Biography[]
Johnny Ola was born in Sicily in 1915, and he later emigrated to the United States. He came to work with Jewish immigrant mobster Hyman Roth, serving as an intermediary between Roth and the Corleone crime family. In 1958, Ola helped in secretly convincing Fredo Corleone to betray his own family, but their relationship was revealed at a sex show in Havana, Cuba in December 1958, where Fredo told his brother Michael Corleone that Ola (whom he claimed to have never known) had introduced him to the venue. Corleone had his enforcer Amerigo Bussetta sneak into Roth's hospital room in Havana on 31 December 1958 and kill Roth, and Bussetta garrotted Ola on the balcony. However, his attempt at killing Roth was foiled when the Cuban Army intervened and shot him dead.
