Johnny Hooker (born in 1899) was an American grifter who lived in Joliet, Illinois in the early 20th Century.

Biography[]

Johnny Hooker was born in Joliet in 1899. Son of an English-American family. In 1936, he worked with Luther Coleman and Joe Erie as grifter. One day he conned a man who worked for the Irish mobster Doyle Lonnegan as a result Luther Coleman was killed and Hooker escaped to Chicago where he met Henry Gondorff, a famous grifter who helped in taking down Lonnegan. After conned Lonnegan Gondorff and Hokker left Chicago forever.
