John of Gallura

John of Gallura (1229-1275) was Judge of Gallura from 1238 to 1275, succeeding Ubaldo of Gallura and preceding Nino of Gallura.

Biography[]

John of Gallura was born in 1229, the son of Ubaldo I of Cagliari. He was nominated to succeed his father on his death, but Enzo of Sardinia took over both Logudoro and Gallura for the Hohenstaufens. In 1254, John joined Pisa in its attack on John of Cagliari, and he sided with the Republic of Pisa during its wars with the Guelphs and the Ghibellines on mainland Italy. He died in Pisa in 1275, and all of his possessions passed to the republic.
