John Weir Troy (31 October 1868-2 May 1942) was the Democratic Governor of the Alaska Territory from 19 April 1933 to 6 December 1939, succeeding George Alexander Parks and preceding Ernest Gruening.

Biography

John Weir Troy was born in Dungeness, Washington in 1868, and he worked as a journalist in Port Townsend before becoming a newspaper publisher in Washington and Alaska from 1891 to 1914. He edited the Daily Alaskan Empire from 1913 to 1933, when he was appointed Governor of the Alaska Territory by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He died in Juneau in 1942.
