John Watts New York

John Watts (27 August 1749-3 September 1836) was a member of the US House of Representatives (F-NY 2) from 4 March 1793 to 3 March 1795, succeeding John Laurance and preceding Edward Livingston.

Biography[]

John Watts was born in New York City, New York in 1749, and he served as Recorder from 1774 to 1784; he went on to serve in the State Assembly from 1788 to 1793 and then in the US House of Representatives from 1793 to 1795. From 1802 to 1807, he served as a Judge of Westchester County, and he co-founded the Leake and Watts Orphan Asylum in 1831. He died in 1836.
