John W. Reynolds Jr.

John Whitcome Reynolds Jr. (4 April 1921-6 January 2003) was the Democratic Governor of Wisconsin from 7 January 1963 to 4 January 1965, succeeding Gaylord Nelson and preceding Warren P. Knowles.

Biography[]

John Whitcome Reynolds Jr. was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin in 1921, the son of state attorney general John W. Reynolds Sr.. Reynolds served in the US Army during World War II before becoming a lawyer in Green Bay, and he served as state Attorney General from 1959 to 1963, as Governor from 1963 to 1965, and as US district judge for the Eastern District of Wisconsin from 1965 to 1986. He died in Milwaukee in 2003.
