John Taliaferro (1768-12 August 1852) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-VA 19) from 4 March 1801 to 4 March 1803 (succeeding Henry Lee III and preceding Edwin Gray), from VA-8 from 29 November 1811 to 4 March 1813 (succeeding John P. Hungerford and preceding Joseph Lewis Jr.), from VA-13 from 24 March 1824 to 4 March 1831 (succeeding William Lee Ball and preceding Joseph Chinn), and from VA-10 from 4 March 1835 to 4 March 1843 (succeeding Chinn and preceding William Lucas).
Biography[]
John Taliaferro was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1768, and he worked as a lawyer before serving in the US House of Representatives from 1801 to 1803, from 1811 to 1813, from 1824 to 1831, and from 1835 to 1843. He became a Whig and a staunch opponent of Andrew Jackson, and, after leaving office, he served as a librarian for the Department of the Treasury from 1850 until his death in 1852.
