John Rutherford (2 September 1952-) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-FL 4) from 3 January 2017 to 3 January 2023 (succeeding Ander Crenshaw and preceding Aaron Bean) and from FL-5 from 3 January 2023 (succeeding Al Lawson).
Biography[]
John Rutherford was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1952, and the family moved to Jacksonville, Florida later in the 1950s. He entered the police department in 1974, and he rose to the rank of Captain; he served as Sheriff of Duval County from 2004 to 2015. In 2016, he was elected to the US House of Representatives, and he was a member of the centrist "Main Street" Republican faction.
