John Ross (24 February 1770 – 31 January 1834) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-PA 2) from 1809 to 1811 (succeeding John Hiester and John Pugh and preceding Jonathan Roberts and William Rodman) and from PA-6 from 1815 to 1818 (succeeding Robert Brown and preceding Thomas Jones Rogers and Samuel Moore).

Biography[]

John Ross was born in Solebury, Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1770, and he studied law at West Chester before becoming a lawyer in Easton in 1792. He served in the State House in 1800, as Recorder from 1800 to 1803, County Register from 1800 to 1809, burgess of Easton in 1804, a member of the US House of Representatives from 1809 to 1811 and from 1815 to 1818, a district judge from 1818 to 1830, and a State Supreme Court judge from 1830 until his death four years later.
