John Robertson (13 April 1787-5 July 1873) was a member of the US House of Representatives (W-VA 18) from 1 December 1834 to 3 March 1835 (succeeding Andrew Stevenson and preceding George Loyall), from VA-19 from 4 March 1835 to 3 March 1837 (succeeding William McComas and preceding Archibald Stuart), and from VA-11 from 4 March 1837 to 3 March 1839 (succeeding John Roane and preceding Green Samuels).

Biography[]

John Robertson was born in Petersburg, Virginia in 1787, and he practiced law in Richmond before serving as Attorney General of Virginia from 1819 to 1834; he went on to serve as a National Republican and Whig member of the US House of Representatives from 1834 to 1839. He became a chancery court judge in Henrico County after leaving Congress, and he returned to the State Senate from 1861 to 1863 before dying at his Lynchburg estate in 1873.
