
John Roane (9 February 1766 – 15 November 1838) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-VA 11) from 4 March 1809 to 3 March 1813 (succeeding James M. Garnett and preceding John Dawson), from VA-12 from 4 March 1813 to 3 March 1815 (succeeding Burwell Bassett and preceding William H. Roane) and from 4 March 1827 to 3 March 1831 (succeeding Robert S. Garnett and preceding John J. Roane), and from VA-9 from 4 March 1835 to 3 March 1837 (succeeding William P. Taylor and preceding Robert M.T. Hunter).
Biography[]
John Roane was born in Uppowac, King William County, Virginia in 1766, and he served in the House of Delegates from 1788 to 1790 and 1792. In 1789, he was a George Washington presidential elector, and he went on to serve in the US House of Representatives from 1809 to 1815, from 1827 to 1831, and from 1835 to 1837. He died in 1838.
