John Reed

John Reed (1622-1668) was an English chronicler who was known for his writings about pirates. Reed travelled with pirates to document their exploits, and his books turned out to be successes. In 1668, Governor of Jamaica Patrick Ainslee threatened to hang Reed as a pirate unless he assisted him with hunting down Morgan Adams and forcing her to give him a cut of her grandfather's treasure. Reed assisted Ainslee and Dawg Brown with ambushing Adams and taking the treasure, and he was killed by a cannon broadside from the Morning Star when Adams reclaimed her ship and attacked Brown's vessel.
