John Pool (16 June 1826-16 August 1884) was a Republican US Senator from North Carolina from 14 July 1868 to 4 March 1873, succeeding Thomas Lanier Clingman and preceding Augustus Summerfield Merrimon.
Biography[]
John Pool was born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina in 1826, and he became a lawyer in 1847. He served in the State Senate in 1856 to 1858 as a Whig, and he served in the US Senate from 1868 to 1873. He died in 1884.
