John Patten

John Patten (26 April 1746 – 26 December 1800) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-DE) from 4 March 1793 to 14 February 1794 (succeeding John Vining and preceding Henry Latimer) and from 4 March 1795 to 4 March 1797 (succeeding Latimer and preceding James A. Bayard).

Biography[]

John Patten was born in Kent County, Delaware in 1746, and he fought in every major American Revolutionary War battle from the Battle of Long Island until the Battle of Camden, when he was captured during the 1st Delaware Regiment's last stand. He went on to concurrently serve in the State House and the Continental Congress from 1785 to 1786 and in the US House of Representatives from 1793 to 1794 and from 1795 to 1797. He died in Dover in 1800.
