
John Lovett (20 February 1761-12 August 1818) was a member of the US House of Representatives (F-NY 9) from 1813 to 1817, succeeding Thomas Sammons and preceding Rensselaer Westerlo.
Biography[]
John Lovett was born in Newent Society (now Lisbon), Connecticut in 1761, and he later moved to Albany and Fort Miller in New York. From 1800 to 1801, he represented Lansingburgh in the State Assembly, but he then returned to Albany and served as secretary to General Stephen Van Rensselaer IV, being wounded at the Battle of Queenston Heights. From 1813 to 1815, he served as Albany County Clerk, and he served in the US House of Representatives from 1813 to 1817. He settled in Perrysburg, Ohio in 1817, but he died the next year.
