John Leeds Kerr

John Leeds Kerr (15 January 1780 – 21 February 1844) was a member of the US House of Representatives (NR-MD 7) from 4 March 1825 to 3 March 1829 (succeeding William Hayward Jr. and preceding Richard Spencer) and from 4 March 1831 to 3 March 1833 (succeeding Spencer and preceding Francis Thomas), and a US Senator from 5 January 1841 to 3 March 1843 (succeeding John S. Spence and preceding James Pearce).

Biography[]

John Leeds Kerr was born in Annapolis, Maryland in 1780, and he became a lawyer in 1801 before serving as deputy state's attorney of Talbot County from 1806 to 1810 and as a militia company commander during the War of 1812. He went on to serve in the US House of Representatives from 1825 to 1829 and from 1831 to 1833, and he finished John S. Spence's US Senate term, serving from 1841 to 1843. He died in 1844.
