
John Laporte (4 November 1798-22 August 1862) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-PA 17) from 4 March 1833 to 3 March 1837, succeeding Richard Coulter and preceding Samuel W. Morris. Born in Asylum, he served as county auditor in 1827 and 1828, in the state house from 1828 to 1832, in Congress, and as a judge and banker.
