
John Isaac Guion (18 November 1802 – 6 June 1855) was the Democratic Governor of Mississippi from 3 February to 4 November 1851, succeeding John A. Quitman and preceding James Whitfield.
Biography[]
John Isaac Guion was born in Adams County, Mississippi Territory in 1802. He became a lawyer in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and he served in the State Senate and staunchly supported slavery and states' rights. He served as Governor in 1851 on John A. Quitman's resignation, and he died in 1855.
