John Hardy (19 September 1835 – 9 December 1913) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-NY 9) from 5 December 1881 to 3 March 1885, succeeding Fernando Wood and preceding Joseph Pulitzer.

Biography[]

John Hardy was born in Scotland in 1835, and he emigrated to New York City in 1839 and became a lawyer in 1861. He served in the State Assembly in 1861, on the board of aldermen in 1863, 1864, and from 1867 to 1869, and in the US House of Representatives from 1881 to 1885. He died in 1913.
