
John Hamilton (25 November 1754 – 22 August 1837) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-PA 10) from 4 March 1805 to 3 March 1807, succeeding John Hoge and preceding William Hoge.
Biography[]
John Hamilton was born in Adams County, Pennsylvania in 1754, and he moved to Washington County in 1783. He became a Lieutenant Colonel of militia in 1786 and a Brigadier General in 1800, and he served as Washington County Sheriff from 1793 to 1796, as a State Senator from 1796 to 1805, as a member of the Jefferson College Board of Trustees from 1802 to 1831, and a member of the US House of Representatives from 1805 to 1807. He died in Ginger Hill in 1820.
