
John Houston Savage (9 October 1815-5 April 1904) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-TN 4) from 4 March 1849 to 3 March 1853 (succeeding Hugh Lawson White Hill and preceding William Cullom) and from 4 March 1855 to 3 March 1859 (succeeding Cullom and preceding William Brickly Stokes). Born in McMinnville, he served in the US Army during the Second Seminole War, practiced law in Smithville, served in Congress, served as colonel of the Confederate States Army's 16th Tennessee Infantry Regiment during the American Civil War, served in the state house from 1877 to 1879 and from 1887 to 1891, and was a member of the state senate from 1879 to 1881.
