John Gibbs

John Gibbs was the Republican Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for Community Planning and Development from May 2018 to 20 January 2021, succeeding Neal Rackleff and preceding Arthur Jemison.

Biography

John Gibbs was born in Lansing, Michigan, and he served as a Pentecostal missionary in Japan (becoming fluent in Japanese) before converting to Catholicism. He worked as a software engineer before becoming a conservative commentator, accusing John Podesta of taking part in Satanist rituals, calling the Democrats the party of "Islam, gender-bending, anti-police," and using the term "cucks" to criticize his opponents. A frequent contributor to The Federalist, he went on to serve in Donald Trump's Department of Housing and Urban Development, and, in 2020, he was unsuccessfully nominated for the Office of Personnel Management. In 2022, he ran for the US House of Representatives in Michigan's 3rd district, pushing the "Big Lie" conspiracy theory and unseating moderate Republican Peter Meijer in the Republican primary; he lost the general election to Democrat Hillary Scholten.
