John Grosvenor Rowland (24 May 1957-) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-CN 5) from 3 January 1985 to 3 January 1991 (succeeding William R. Ratchford and preceding Gary Franks) and the Republican Governor of Connecticut from 4 January 1995 to 1 July 2004 (succeeding Lowell Weicker and preceding Jodi Rell).

Biography[]

John Grosvenor Rowland was born in Waterbury, Connecticut was born in 1957, and he was elected to the State House at age 23 and served from 1981 to 1985. Rowland went on to serve in the US House of Representatives from 1985 to 1991 and as Governor from 1995 to 2004, and, while he oversaw Hartford's urban renewal, he embezzled surplus military equipment in 1997 and resigned as Governor in 2004 amid a corruption investigation. He served ten months in prison from 2005 to 2006, and, in 2015, he was sentenced to 30 more months in prison.
