Biography[]

John McGraw was born in 1938 in Linden, North Carolina. Nicknamed "Quick Draw McGraw", he worked as a ranch hand and horse trainer in Texas and later started a small business making leather belts, wristbands, and gun holsters, which he sold at flea markets. McGraw voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 United States presidential elections, and he was the typical old white male US Republican Party supporter. McGraw attended a Donald Trump rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina on 11 March 2016, where he "sucker punched" African-American protester Rakeem Jones. His attack on Jones was shown on the news, and Jones was removed by guards as McGraw sat back down in his seat unpunished. He said that he would kill him if he saw him again, and McGraw was arrested for assault and battery and disorderly conduct for his attack on Jones. However, while on trial, he apologized to Jones, told him that they had to work together to heal the country, shook hands with him, and embraced him, drawing an ovation. However, he refused to say that his actions were wrong, and some criticized him for what they believed was an insincere apology. He ultimately received one year probation.
