John Fontaine Keenan (23 November 1929-27 October 2024) was the Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York from 20 September 1983 to 31 December 1996, succeeding Lloyd Francis McMahon and preceding Colleen McMahon. Born in Manhattan, he served as an assistant district attorney of New York County from 1956 to 1976 (and a chief assistant district attorney from 1974 to 1976) and an assistant district attorney in charge of Supreme Court Bureau of New York County from 1968 to 1969. As a federal judge, he presided over the trial of Cultural Affairs Commissioner Bess Myerson and Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos. He died in 2024.
