John Evert Van Alen (1749-27 February 1807) was a member of the US House of Representatives (F-NY 7) from 4 March 1793 to 3 March 1799, preceding John Thompson.

Biography[]

John Evert Van Alen was born in Kinderhook, Columbia County, New York in 1749, and he became a farmer in Defreestville and served in the Albany militia during the American Revolutionary War. Van Alen became assistant judge for Rensselaer County in 1791, served in the US House of Representatives from 1793 to 1799, and served in the State Assembly from 1800 to 1801. He died in 1807.
