
John Elliott (24 October 1773 – 9 August 1827) was a US Senator from Georgia (DR) from 4 March 1819 to 4 March 1825, succeeding Charles Tait and preceding John M. Berrien.
Biography[]
John Elliott was born in Liberty County, Georgia in 1773, and he worked as a lawyer and held several local offices before serving in the US Senate from 1819 to 1825 as a Democratic-Republican. He was a slaveowner, owning 115 slaves in 1820, and he died in 1827.
