
John Edward Seeley (1 August 1810-30 March 1875) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-NY 24) from 4 March 1871 to 3 March 1873, succeeding George W. Cowles and preceding R. Holland Duell.
Biography[]
John Edward Seeley was born in Ovid, Seneca County, New York in 1810, and he became a lawyer in Monroe, Michigan before returning to Ovid in 1839. He served as town supervisor in 1842, as Seneca County judge from 1851 to 1855, as a delegate to the 1856 Republican National Convention, and in the US House of Representatives from 1871 to 1873, and he died in 1875.
