
John Covode (17 March 1808 – 11 January 1871) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-PA 19) from 4 March 1855 to 3 March 1863 (succeeding Augustus Drum and preceding Glenni William Scofield) and from PA-21 from 4 March 1867 to 3 March 1869 (succeeding John L. Dawson) and from 9 February 1870 to 11 January 1871 (preceding Henry D. Foster).
Biography[]
John Covode was born in Fairfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in 1808, and he became the owner of a woolen mill before entering politics as a Whig. He served in the US House of Representatives from 1855 to 1863, from 1867 to 1869, and from 1870 to 1871. He supported several Reconstruction measures, and he died in 1871.
