John Courtenay, 15th Earl of Devon (1435-4 May 1471) was a Lancastrian commander during the Wars of the Roses.
Biography[]
John Courtenay was the son of Thomas Courtenay, 13th Earl of Devon, and he was the brother of Thomas Courtenay, 14th Earl of Devon. His family sided with the Lancastrians during the Wars of the Roses, and his brother was beheaded following the Battle of Towton in 1461. John succeeded his brother as Earl of Devon, and he fought for the Lancastrians until he was slain at the Battle of Tewkesbury in 1471.
