John Coffey (1893-1935) was an African-American man wrongfully accused for murdering and raping two girls in 1935.
Biography[]
John Coffey was an African-American man, approximately 6'8" ft tall, with a powerful muscular frame. Following his wrongful conviction for the crime of murder and rape, he was sentenced to death and in the 1930s. Not long after being incarcerated, Coffey shown he had a miraculous healing ability by instantaneously healing Paul Edgecomb's urinary tract infection. He also healeds Mr. Jingles, Eduard Delacroix's pet mouse, after Percy Wetmore stepped on him in attempt to kill him. John was very large, having to duck under most doors. He had a mind similar to a child and little to no education; he claimed he can only spell his name. He was mild-mannered, calling everyone "sir" or "ma'am". John was executed a dark and rainy night in 1935. Before dying he cried and claimed to be regret of being what he was.
