
John Christopher Cutler (5 February 1846 – 30 July 1928) was the Republican Governor of Utah from 2 January 1905 to 4 January 1909, succeeding Heber Manning Wells and preceding William Spry.
Biography[]
John Christopher Cutler was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England in 1846, and his family emigrated to the Utah Territory in 1864 to join its Mormon community. Cutler served as president of his family's dry goods business and also became involved in the banking and insurance industries, and he served as clerk of Salt Lake County from 1884 to 1890 and as Governor from 1905 to 1909. He shot himself in Salt Lake City in 1928 after falling ill.
