John Carter (10 September 1792-20 June 1850) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-SC 9) from 11 December 1822 to 3 March 1823 (succeeding James Blair and preceding Starling Tucker) and from SC-8 from 4 March 1823 to 3 March 1829 (succeeding Joseph Gist and preceding Blair). Born near Camden, he practiced law before entering politics. He moved to Georgetown, Washington DC in 1836 and died in 1850.
