John Bash was the US Attorney for the Western District of Texas from 11 December 2017 to 9 October 2020, succeeding Richard Durbin and preceding Gregg N. Sofer.
Biography[]
John Bash graduated from Harvard University in 2003 and became a clerk for justice Antonin Scalia before becoming an attorney. From 2012 to 2017, he served as an Assistant to the Solicitor General, and he then served as an associate counsel for Donald Trump from 2017 to 2018. In 2017, Trump appointed him to serve as a US Attorney for the Western District of Texas. He lost Trump's favor after finding no wrongdoing with the "unmasking" of Trump's advisor Michael Flynn in a phone call with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak, and he resigned on 9 October 2020 to accept a job in the private sector.
