John Barrow

John Barrow (born 31 October 1955) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-GA 12) from 3 January 2005 to 3 January 2015, succeeding Max Burns and preceding Rick W. Adams.

Biography[]

John Barrow was born in Athens, Georgia in 1955, and he became a lawyer in 1979. In 1990, he was elected to the Athens-Clarke County Commission, serving until 2004, when he was elected to the US House of Representatives. He was a member of the Blue Dog Coalition and the New Democrats, holding centrist views; in 2010, he was the only white Democratic Party congressman from the Deep South. He retired in 2015.
