John Baptiste Charles Lucas

John Baptiste Charles Lucas (14 August 1758 – 17 August 1842) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-PA 11) from 1803 to 1805, succeeding John Smilie and preceding Samuel Smith.

Biography[]

John Baptiste Charles Lucas was born in Pont-Audemer, Normandy, France in 1758, and he emigrated to the United States in 1784 and settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He served in the State House from 1792 to 1798, in the US House of Representatives from 1803 to 1805, and as district judge for the District of Louisiana from 1805 to 1820, doing so as an ally of Thomas Jefferson. He died in St. Louis, Missouri in 1842.
