John Anderson (Maine)

John Anderson (30 July 1792-21 August 1853) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-ME 2) from 4 March 1825 to 3 March 1833, succeeding Stephen Longfellow and preceding F.O.J. Smith. Born in Windham, he practiced law in Portland before serving in the state senate, in Congress, as Mayor of Portland from 1833 to 1836 and in 1842, as a US Attorney from 1833 to 1836, and as a customs collector in Portland.
