John A. Kassim

John Andrew Kasson (11 January 1822-18 May 1910) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-IO 5) from 4 March 1863 to 3 March 1867 (preceding Grenville M. Dodge) and from IO-7 from 4 March 1873 to 3 March 1877 (preceding Henry J.B. Cummings) and from 4 March 1881 to 13 July 1884 (succeeding Edward H. Gillette and preceding Hiram Y. Smith).

Biography[]

John Andrew Kasson was born in Charlotte, Vermont in 1822, and he became a lawyer in St. Louis, Missouri before moving to Des Moines, Iowa in 1857. He served as a delegate to the 1860 Republican National Convention before serving in the US House of Representatives from 1863 to 1867, from 1873 to 1877, and from 1881 to 1884 and in the State House from 1868 to 1872. From 1884 to 1885, he served on the US legation to the German Empire in Berlin, and he died in Washington DC in 1910.
