
Johao the Mean (1054-) was a Navarrese nobleman.
Biography[]
Johao the Mean was born in Pamplona, Navarre, to a Portuguese noble family. He had a talent for command and was a promising commander, and took over Zaragoza in 1082, as well as capturing Aquitaine and Brittany from the French rebels. Johao was known as "the Mean" due to his dread, but even after he grew chivalrous he retained his nickname.
