Johann Adolf II of Saxe-Weissenfels (4 September 1685-16 May 1746) was the Duke of Saxe-Weissenfels from 1736 to 1746, succeeding Christian of Saxe-Weissenfels.
Biography[]
Johann Adolf II of Saxe-Weissenfels was born in Weissenfels, Saxe-Weissenfels (present-day Saxony-Anhalt, Germany) in 1685, the youngest of eleven children of Johann Adolf I of Saxe-Weissenfels. He served as a Saxon general during the War of the Polish Succession, invading Poland to secure Augustus III of Poland's ascent to the throne. During the War of the Austrian Succession, Johann Adolf led Saxon and Austrian troops against invading Prussians, but his defeat at the Battle of Hohenfriedberg led to his replacement. He died in 1746.
